Neil Warnock has been linked with AberdeenAberdeen will appoint an interim manager until the end of the season.
Three people are currently being spoken to for that position, one of whom is Neil Warnock, and they are hopeful of making an appointment next week.
Neil Lennon, Jack Ross and Alex Neil, linked with the job long term, are not contenders for the interim role.
The club are going through a full review of their football operations from academy to first team, working with elite performance consultants.
First team coach Peter Leven took charge of the squad following Barry Robson's sacking on Wednesday and will oversee Saturday lunchtime's game against Celtic.
The Dons are eighth in the Scottish Premiership, two points off the top six.
Warnock, 75, was most recently at Huddersfield Town, his second spell at the club in a 44-year managerial career that has included spells at Crystal Palace, Queen's Park Rangers, Leeds United and Middlesbrough.
