Tyrone All-Ireland winner Niall Sludden has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

During a distinguished career with the Red Hands, Sludden won three Ulster senior titles, including back-to-back successes in 2016 and 2017.

The Dromore clubman played a key part in Tyrone lifting the Sam Maguire Cup for a fourth time in 2021, the Ulster county beating Mayo in the final.

His performances that season earned him an All Star award.

Sludden has been a mainstay of the Tyrone team since making his debut against Queen's in the competition in 2016 and went on to make 116 appearances for the county, racking up a personal points tally of 7-92.

He was also part of the side which reached the 2018 All-Ireland final, in which Mickey Harte's side lost to Dublin in the decider.

Tyrone will begin their 2024 season on Sunday afternoon when they host Donegal in the McKenna Cup.
