Manchester CityManchester City have won seven successive matches in all competitions with Khadija Shaw (second left) scoring 11 times already this season

Khadija Shaw continued her excellent goalscoring form as she netted in Manchester City's 3-0 League Cup victory over Sunderland.

Shaw is the joint top scorer in the Women's Super League with eight goals in seven matches and got the third against Sunderland at Academy Stadium.

Julie Blakstad had opened the scoring after only eight minutes with Australia winger Hayley Raso netting the second.

England's Rachel Daly scored in Aston Villa's 1-0 victory against Durham.

Elsewhere, Jasmine Matthews scored for Liverpool as they won 1-0 at home against Blackburn and goals from Kate Longhurst and Dagny Brynjarsdottir helped West Ham defeat Birmingham City 2-0.

Elisabeth Terland and Victoria Williams scored as Brighton won 2-1 at Championship leaders London City Lionesses, while Tottenham thrashed Coventry United 5-1 with Eveliina Summanen, Rosella Ayane, Kerys Harrop, Amy Turner and Lenna Gunning-Williams all on the scoresheet.

Sanne Troelsgaard's fifth-minute opener gave Reading control against Southampton, with Lauren Wade and Justine Vanhaevermaet also finding the back of the net in a 3-0 success.

In the two all-Championship ties, Charlton's Kiera Skeels scored twice in a 2-1 win over Bristol City, with Emma Thompson also scoring a double in Lewes' 4-1 win at Crystal Palace.

The competition has five groups, with the winners of each section, along with one best-placed runners-up, advancing to the quarter-finals where they will be joined by Chelsea and Arsenal.
