Manchester United have now lost 12 of their 24 games in all competitions this season (W11 D1).

That's as many defeats as they suffered in the entirety of their 2022-23 campaign (P62,W41, D9, L12).

And for just the second time in the club's history, United finished bottom of their Champions League group.

So, what next for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United?

It was a night to forget for Manchester United at Old Trafford, as they finished bottom of their Champions League group after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich - a result that also saw them miss out on qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Not since 2005-06 under Sir Alex Ferguson have United failed to secure some kind of European action after Christmas, with the exception of 2014-15, when they missed out completely.

They now have to dust themselves down quickly and look ahead to Sunday when they will travel to Liverpool in the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at PSV, but Mikel Arteta's side had already progressed to the knockout stages as winners of Group B.
