Racing 92 deny agreement with Saracens' Farrell

Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell has won 112 caps for England

French club Racing 92 have denied having an agreement to sign Saracens and England fly-half Owen Farrell.

Reports in France have suggested Farrell could link up with ex-England head coach Stuart Lancaster at Racing.

But Racing released a statement saying that, while they welcomed the media interest in the club, they have no agreement in place with Farrell.

Apart from a four-game loan spell with Bedford Blues, Farrell has spent his career with Saracens after making his senior debut as a 17-year-old in 2008.

He has made more than 200 appearances for the London club and won six Premiership titles and three European Cups.

Farrell is also England's record points scorer and led his country to a third-place finish at the 2023 World Cup before deciding to take a break from Test rugby.

He will be unavailable for the upcoming Six Nations "in order to prioritise his and his family's mental wellbeing".

Speaking on Thursday, England head coach Steve Borthwick says the fly-half will leave behind a "strong legacy".
