Manchester United midfielder Casemiro says this has been "one of the most successful seasons" of his career.

Casemiro won 18 trophies, including five Champions Leagues, during a nine-year stay at Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old has won only the the FA Cup and League Cup since arriving at United for £70m in 2022.

United are 16th in the Premier League with one game left, but they can still end the season with silverware if they beat Tottenham in Wednesday's Europa League final.

Despite the club's disappointing league season, Casemiro has said he is "proud" of himself for working his way back into the team.

The Brazil international fell out of favour with former boss Erik ten Hag after his two mistakes led to two goals in a 3-0 defeat by rivals Liverpool in September.

And when Ruben Amorim took over as manager in November, Casemiro was an unused substitute in nine of his first 13 matches in charge.

"This was one of the seasons I think I feel most proud of myself," Casemiro told ESPN Brasil., external

"It's been a long time since I've been through a moment like this, where the coach doesn't count on you, but you keep working, keep doing things well."

Despite his slow start under Amorim, Casemiro has played a crucial role in United's Europa League run - featuring 12 times and scoring in each of the semi-final legs against Athletic Bilbao.

"Of course, you want to win titles, but one of the most successful seasons of my career, without a doubt, was this one. For turning things around, with hard work and dedication," he added.
