National Trust appeal after beauty spot littering

The National Trust has asked people to be more considerate after a beauty spot was left covered in litter after the bank holiday weekend.

It also thanked volunteers, staff and visitors who helped clear the rubbish from the Carding Mill Valley.

The National Trust said there had been "exceptionally high numbers" there over the bank holiday and it was "wonderful to see so many people connecting with nature", but litter could have a "serious impact" on the landscape.

It said the waste included food packaging, bottles and dog waste bags.

The National Trust asked people to take litter home, dispose of waste responsibly and leave the landscape as they found it.

Shropshire Young Farmers were among the groups that came to help clear and bag up the rubbish and the National Trust said it was grateful for their support.

It added: "Small actions from everyone can make a big difference in protecting the Shropshire Hills during busy periods and ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy them."
