Loughborough Lightning thump Bath in NSL

Defending Netball Super League champions Loughborough Lightning recorded a thumping 83-46 win over Team Bath at the Sir David Wallace Arena.

After the first quarter, the match was close at 19-13 in Loughborough's favour.

But Loughborough pulled away in the second quarter, the half-time score 42-21, and five-time champions Bath could not get back into the game.

"It was great today... Really proud," Loughborough coach Vic Burgess said.

Wing defence Beth Cobden was named player of the match in which Mary Cholhok scored 52 goals.

Elsewhere, Saracens Mavericks beat Leeds Rhinos 53-44, London Pulse won 62-46 away to Surrey Storm and Severn Stars produced a dominating 67-38 win over Strathclyde Sirens.

On Friday, Manchester Thunder beat Cardiff Dragons 63-52 with Manchester's Elmere van der Berg scoring 28 goals.
