Oklahoma Thunder guard Josh Giddey will not face charges after police completed its investigation into allegations that he had an improper relationship with an underage girl.
Allegations about the Australian, 21, emerged on social media in November.
The NBA started looking into the matter but put its investigation on hold pending a police probe.
Newport Beach Police Department "were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr Giddey".
"After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completed our investigation into information that was circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey," the Newport Beach Police Department said in a statement.
An anonymous social media user, in a post that was later deleted, said a girl seen with Giddey in videos and photos was a high school junior at the time. High school juniors in the US are usually aged 16 or 17.
Giddey would not comment when asked by reporters in November, while Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault also declined to comment.
"[It's a] personal matter, and I have no comment on it," Daigneault said. "And that'll be my comment on anything related.
"I get the question guys, I completely understand you guys want to know about it but right now, I don't have anything to say."
Giddey, the sixth overall pick in the 2021 draft, has continued to play throughout the investigation and is averaging 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists for the Thunder who are second in the Western Conference.
