UK Defence Secretary John Healey is due to travel to Cyprus later after the Cypriot government criticised the way the UK has handled its response to the drone attacks against an RAF base on the island.

Cypriot High Commissioner to the UK Dr Kyriacos Kouros told BBC Newsnight Cypriots were "disappointed" about the standard of information sharing with residents after RAF Akrotiri was hit overnight on Sunday and further drones were intercepted.

Kouros called for "more cooperation" with local authorities "to safeguard that such incidents won't happen again".

The UK announced that British warship HMS Dragon will be deployed to Cyprus, although it is not due to sail until next week.
