Gavin Sheehan won by three and three quarter lengths on DatsalrightginoDatsalrightgino won the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury for jockey Gavin Sheehan and trainer Jamie Snowden.
The 16-1 chance stayed on well to see off the challenge of runner-up Mahler Mission, with Monbeg Genius third and Eldorado Allen fourth.
Datsalrightgino came from last to first as his stamina kicked in and he passed his rivals in one of the jump racing season's biggest handicap chases.
The meeting passed a morning inspection after frost covers were deployed.
Sheehan was not even supposed to be riding Datsalrightgino as he was meant to be heading north to Newcastle, but he replaced Tom Cannon after that meeting was abandoned.
"It's just unbelievable and great credit to Jamie and the team, this is massive," said Sheehan.
Snowden said: "It's weird how things work out, but thankfully Gav was on board and he knows the horse so well. Thankfully it all worked well in the end."
The 2021 winner Cloudy Glen was fifth, with Shakem Up'arry sixth, one place ahead of another Snowden runner - the 2022 Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Ga Law.
Complete Unknown, sent off the 4-1 favourite for trainer Paul Nicholls, finished 10th of the 20 runners.
