Chelsea and Australia striker Sam Kerr sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the club's warm weather training camp in Morocco.
Kerr, 30, joined Chelsea in 2019 and is a key figure for Emma Hayes's side with 99 goals in 128 matches.
Chelsea say she will be assessed by a specialist in the coming days and then begin her rehabilitation.
The Blues are currently top of the Women's Super League, three points ahead of Manchester City.
